Reflexology known as the pressure technique was rooted in early India, Egypt and China and was a valuable tool in the healing community. The main concept of reflexology is to help the body regain normative balance. It involves the application of pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that purportedly reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work effects a physical change to the body. Reflexologists believe that these areas and reflex points correspond to different body organs and systems, and that pressing them has a beneficial effect on the organs and person’s general health.
