Beth DuPree, MD, FACSBeth DuPree, MD, FACSDr. Beth DuPree’s impressive credentials do not capture the humanitarian spirit with which she treats her patients, friends, and acquaintances. Dr. DuPree, a surgeon who is focusing her practice on breast cancer care, believes that using a holistic approach to healing a patient is extremely important. She is strongly committed to combining holistic therapies with state-of-the-art, leading-edge technology to facilitate better outcomes—even in people with life-threatening disease, such as cancer.

Dr. DuPree strongly urges her patients to integrate healing therapies, whether it is through clinical psychological therapy, spiritual assistance, grief counseling, exercise programs, reflexology, nutritional counseling, Reiki, Yoga, or massage. In fact, she herself is a Master-Level Reiki practitioner. Dr. DuPree believes that “whatever it takes to help a person find healing and peace within should be an integral part of their treatment process.”

This energetic, witty mother of two sons, whose skin-sparing mastectomies, performed in conjunction with plastic surgeon Robert Skalicky, D.O., were featured live on the Internet in October, 1999, has won numerous awards for her medical work as well as her humanitarian endeavors. The above-mentioned Web cast and subsequent television documentary received a coveted Gracie Allen Award in New York City in April, 2000. Additionally, Dr. DuPree was given the Clara Barton Humanitarian Award from the American Red Cross for her ongoing contributions to the treatment of breast cancer in 2002, the Visions of Hope Award from AstraZeneca in December, 2002, the Northampton Township Citizen of the Month in February, 2003, Women Pioneering the Future Award from the Pennsylvania Commission for Women in March, 2003, the Bucks Women Fund Award in March of 2007 and the “Tristate Team Survivor” achievement award October 2007, and was boomer.com baby boomer of the month January 2008. Dr. DuPree serves as a member of the Public Relations Committee of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and was recently named Chairman of The Board of Advocates for the ASBS. In addition she serves on the advisory board for Breastcancer.org, and The Susan G. Komen Foundation Philadelphia.

Because of her strong dedication to patients with cancer, Dr. DuPree established a non-profit organization called The Healing Consciousness Foundation in 2007. The foundation funds holistic and wellness therapies for women and men living with a breast cancer diagnosis.

Dr. DuPree, who received her medical degree from Hahnemann University in 1987, has written a book entitled The Healing Consciousness: A Doctor’s Journey to Healing. It is the true story of her journey as a surgeon who awakens to the healer that resides within her. The first edition was released in 2006 and in 2008, the second edition printing includes transcribed spiritual messages. Proceeds from the book are donated to The Healing Consciousness Foundation.

She is a prominent keynote speaker at many national events, primarily addressing women’s health issues, breast cancer, healing, and wellness. Dr DuPree is often featured in live tele-surgeries and web-ex’s to educate physicians and healthcare professionals on state-of-the-art breast care issues. She travels throughout the United States training other physicians in breast ultrasound and intervention, hoping to promote a higher quality of care for all women and men requiring breast surgery.

Dr. DuPree worked tirelessly to develop and build the first comprehensive breast care hospital in the United States. It was located in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. It became licensed in April of 2007. She served as the Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of The Comprehensive Breast Care Institute at DSI of Bucks County until it's premature closure in February of 2009. The vision of the facility was to bring together the latest in technology combined with the most effective healing modalities for patients and their families who are living with breast disease and to provide these services in a welcoming and healing environment. Although the facility was unable to withstand the economic crisis, the patient care model is one that is widely sought after. She now serves as the Medical Director of The Breast Health Program at Holy Redeemer Health System.

In December of 2008 Dr. Beth DuPree and her esteemed colleagues cardiologist Dr. Deirdre Walsh and Ob-Gyn Dr. Amy Harvey launched their weekly radio show, The Medical View: East Meets West” intended to educate, empower and enlighten their listeners about how Eastern modalities of healing integrated with the latest medical breakthroughs in Western technology can create a healthy balance of healing the body mind and spirit. The show is live Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on WWDB 860AM. Live web stream wwdbam.com. Previous shows are available on themedicalview.tv. . All proceeds from the show are donated to the physicians’ favorite non-profit organizations.
